Abbott to preview new haematology instrument
Abbott has announced it will preview a new haematology instrument at the annual meeting of the American Association of Clinical Chemistry this week.
The company will present its Cell-DYN Emerald haematology instrument, which it claims is designed to deliver quick and reliable results for small to medium-sized laboratories.
It is a tool for performing complete blood counts, a test used to screen for a number of disorders such as anaemia, as well as infections, in addition to being used to assess the overall health of a patient,
The Emerald tool can provide complete blood count results within 60 seconds, with results presented on a histogram showing details of white and red cells and platelets.
“The Emerald will expand Abbott’s haematology platform by offering a premium, robust low-volume solution for small to mid-sized clinical laboratories,” the company said.
It added that the Emerald offers reliable performance with faster and simpler data entry as a result of its enhanced technology, intuitive software and onboard reagents.
Also at the annual meeting this week, Abbott plans to unveil its new Architect ci4100 integrated immunoassay and clinical chemistry system.
The last in the Architect range of products, the system aims to provide improved productivity for low-volume testing laboratories.
