Act FAST stroke awareness campaign returns to TV

20th October 2015

The government has announced the return of its national Act FAST campaign, which aims to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of stroke.

TV adverts supporting the campaign have returned to the airwaves this week and describe what happens when someone is having a stroke, encouraging people to call 999 as soon as they notice any of these signs in others or if they experience symptoms themselves.

Key indicators include the face falling to one side, an inability to raise both arms and keep them there, or a slurring of the person's speech. Should any of these symptoms be observed, the emergency services should be contacted as soon as possible.

Act FAST will run nationally from October 19th to November 15th, with the campaign to consist of TV and video on demand advertising, supported by digital search.

A separate strand of activity including TV, radio and press advertising will specifically target South Asian, Black Caribbean and Black African British minority ethnic audiences.

On World Stroke Day on October 29th, video content, an infographic, case studies and campaign spokespeople will also be available.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801803615-ADNFCR
