Actelion posts 9-month financial results

Actelion has released its financial results for the first nine months of 2009, which show that the firm saw total net revenues of 1.3 million Swiss francs (784, 823 pounds) – a figure up by 22 per cent compared to the same period of 2008.

Sales of its pulmonary arterial hypertension treatment Tracleer (bosetan) reached 1.1 million Swiss francs during the period, up by 19 per cent in local currencies.

The firm now retains a positive growth outlook for 2010, as final phase III study results for both bosentan and clazosentan are due over the next few months.

“Actelion continues to execute in-line with its strategy to create long-term value for patients. Our franchise in pulmonary arterial hypertension will ensure profitable growth going forward,” explained Jean-Paul Clozel, the organisation’s chief executive officer.

This week, Actelion announced that trials into its selective S1P1 receptor agonist ACT-128800/RG3477 have reached an integral clinical stage and will result in a payment from its project partner Roche.
