Advanced Medical Solutions names new non-executive chairman

Advanced Medical Solutions (AMS) has announced the appointment of Peter Allen as its new non-executive chairman, effective from January 1st 2014.

Mr Allen will take up the position of non-executive director on December 4th 2013 before succeeding the retiring Dr Don Evans as chairman at the start of next year.

A healthcare industry veteran, Mr Allen has held key senior positions at a number of companies, including 12 years as chief financial officer of Celltech, five years as chairman and interim chief executive of ProStrakan and three years as chairman of Proximagen Neurosciences.

All of these companies experienced significant increases in shareholder value during the periods in question, while he also currently holds directorships with Chroma Therapeutics, Clinigen, Mecom, Scancell and Macrotarg, among others.

Dr Evans said: "His significant experience of driving significant value creation at a number of healthcare companies – in both executive and non-executive roles – will be invaluable in the next stage of AMS's growth."

The firm was founded in 1991 and is now one of the world's leading manufacturers of wound care products.
