Advancing Dental Restoration: OccluSense Revolutionises Occlusion Analysis

Madison Massey
In a notable leap for restorative dentistry, José María Suárez Feito introduces the OccluSense system by Bausch (Germany), a cutting-edge digital occlusion analyser designed to enhance the treatment of patients with tooth wear. Offering real-time data on occlusion, this innovative system helps clinicians achieve more precise adhesive rehabilitation, departing from traditional, less reliable methods reliant on articulating paper.
The OccluSense system is a significant step forward in dental health, addressing long-standing limitations found in traditional occlusal assessment methods. Conventional articulating paper, which only offers static snapshots and lacks data on force and contact timing, often results in inaccurate occlusion assessments with high error rates. In contrast, OccluSense employs a wireless handpiece paired with a thin, pressure-sensitive sensor that records dynamic occlusal contact. It features over 1,000 sensing cells capturing 256 relative pressure levels, providing clinicians with comprehensive 2D and 3D visualisations of occlusal pressures. The inclusion of CenterFix, a new accessory, enhances data accuracy by aligning the sensor for consistent inter-arch comparisons.
OccluSense represents a transformative advancement in dental practice, allowing for dynamic, precision-based occlusion analysis that goes far beyond traditional approaches. By improving the accuracy and reliability of occlusal data, this system not only enhances the dentist’s ability to deliver effective adhesive treatments for tooth wear but also paves the way for consistent patient outcomes. As dental technology continues to evolve, tools like OccluSense set a new standard for clinical excellence and patient care in the industry.
