Agfa announces new board member

Agfa-Gevaert has announced that Willy Duron is to be appointed to its board of directors.

The healthcare technology company confirmed that the appointment will take effect immediately and that Mr Duron will also become a member of the company’s audit committee.

Shareholders will be asked to vote on his appointment at the annual general meeting on April 29th 2008.

Mr Duron started his career in 1970 as an actuary for ABB Insurance and remained at the firm following the merger of the Belgian institutions Kredietbank, CERA Bank and ABB Insurance in 2000.

He became chairman of the executive committee of KBC Insurance at this time and was later appointed president of the executive committee of KBC Bank and Insurance Holding Company.

In 2006, Mr Duron retired from his last position as chief executive office of KBC Group NV.

He holds a master of mathematics from Ghent University and a master of actuarial science from the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium.
