Agilent 2100 Bioanalyser system adopted by schools

Agilent’s 2100 Bioanalyser system will be adopted by educational facilities in order to better inform students and teachers how the analysis of DNA works, it has been announced.

The tool, which uses miniature "lab-on-a-chip" technology rather than the more traditional slab gel electrophoresis methods, provides faster and more consistent results, the firm claims.

It is also designed to reduce the employment of hazardous chemicals typically utilised as part of the DNA analysis process.

"Seeing their own DNA gives students a tangible link to the modern study of human genetic variation and how science is used in both court cases and the study of human evolution," explained executive director of the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory’s Dolan DNA Learning Center, one of the facilities that will adopt the technology.

Earlier this week, Agilent announced that it has introduced the sector’s first DDR3 1866 DIMM interposer test solution, in collaboration with FuturePlus Systems.
