Agilent agrees software distribution deal with Cerno Bioscience
Agilent Technologies has announced a new distribution deal with Cerno Bioscience that will enhance the value of its gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) devices.
The firm has agreed to distribute Cerno Bioscience's MassWorks calibration and analysis software with all of its GC/MSD systems. This novel calibration technology will increases the mass accuracy of its single-quadrupole GC/MSD, enabling unknown compound identification.
Typically, this process normally requires more complex instruments, such as time-of-flight mass spectrometers. Instead, MassWorks uses Cerno's unique technology to calibrate raw MS data for significantly higher mass and spectral accuracy.
MassWorks is compatible with Agilent 5977, 5975 and 5973 GC/MSD instruments running Agilent MSD ChemStation or MassHunter software.
Monty Benefiel, vice-president and general manager of Agilent's GC and GC/MS solutions division, said: "Making Cerno MassWorks directly available to GC/MSD users through Agilent channels opens the qualitative power of accurate mass information to scan MS users worldwide."
This comes after the company allied with Siscapa Assay Technologies to provide an end-to-end solution for multiplexed protein quantitation last month.
