Agilent earns innovation award for Seahorse XF Cell Energy Phenotype Test Kit
Agilent Technologies has announced that a test kit from its subsidiary Seahorse Bioscience has been named as one of the most innovative new life science products released in 2015.
The Scientist magazine has named its XF Cell Energy Phenotype Test Kit as a 2015 Top Ten Innovation by an expert panel of independent judges, following an assessment of the best laboratory and research products of the year.
A reagent kit and analysis method that allows researchers to rapidly determine the energy phenotype of cells, the kit lets users plot their results on an energy map and easily compare metabolic phenotypes across cell types and treatment conditions.
It is designed for use with the Seahorse XF96 Extracellular Flux Analyzer, which was previously cited as a Top Ten Innovation back in 2009.
Dr Sierra Kent, associate product manager for consumables at Seahorse Bioscience, said: "The XF Cell Energy Phenotype Test generates a holistic, functional view of the metabolic phenotype of cells, and the resulting energy map can act as a guide to additional experiments to elucidate the mechanisms of energy metabolism within the cells."
The company acquired Seahorse Bioscience in a deal worth $235 million (154.96 million pounds) earlier this year.
