Agilent introduces cdma200 PESQ measurement functionality
Agilent has introduced cdma200 perceptual evaluation of speech quality (PESQ) measurement functionality that is designed for use with its 8960 wireless communications test set.
It is hoped that the end user experience will be enhanced by the new device, as it allows wireless engineers to provide an objective measurement of audio quality in digitally-vocoded voice.
Niels Fach, vice-president and general manager of Agilent’s mobile broadband operation, explained that unlike other similar solutions, the measurements made by the new functionality are created without the assistance of an audio analyser.
"This fast, one-box approach simplifies test procedures and reduces the total number of test stations when characterising voice quality in handsets," he added.
In other Agilent news, the firm has just released a new PCI Express high-speed data acquisition card, which features an on-board field programmable gate array for real-time data processing.
This new platform is cost-effective while offering higher sampling rates and increased flexibility.
