Agilent launches 2200 TapeStation for quality control

Agilent Technologies has launched its new automated Agilent 2200 TapeStation, which provides next-generation sequencing sample and library quality control (QC) functions for the life science sector.

The fast and convenient benchtop system uses pre-packaged ScreenTape consumables to measure the quality of biological samples, including proteins, RNA and DNA.

Users can load samples and consumables into the compact 2200 TapeStation instrument to produce fully analysed results in less than a minute, while the device also offers compatibility with 16-tube strip vials and 96-well plates.

The new offering complements existing Agilent electrophoresis products such as the Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer or the SureSelect Target Enrichment System for next-generation sequencing.

Patrick Kaltenbach, vice-president of Agilent's liquid phase separations business, said: "The versatility of the TapeStation … makes it the perfect tool for sample and library QC."

Last month, the company announced an agreement with Ambry Genetics, which will see the latter company use the SureSelect Target Enrichment System for exome sequencing services.
