Agilent Technologies highlights 2009 citizenship progress
Agilent Technologies has highlighted the progress it has made in improving its environmental and social contributions over the course of the last year.
The science company has published its annual Corporate Citizenship Report for 2009, a year in which the firm was named as one of the 100 top corporate citizens in a ranking compiled by CRO Magazine.
According to the firm, this is due to initiatives such as the $5.7 million (3.7 million pounds) worth of charitable donations made worldwide in 2009, as well as its commitment to cut its carbon emissions by ten per cent by 2011.
The company also highlighted the improvements made in its workforce engagement through initiatives such as the launch of its Working At Agilent staff development programme.
Bill Sullivan, president and chief executive officer of Agilent Technologies, said: “We take pride in our ability to support our customers, employees and investors in making our world a better, healthier and more sustainable place to live.”
Last week, the company agreed a deal to provide gene analysis technologies for research centre BGI, which will allow the facility to conduct studies into human genetics and cancer genomes.
