Agilent Technologies licenses SureFISH to life science firm

Agilent Technologies has agreed a new licensing deal that will allow life science company BioDiscovery to make use of its SureFISH technology.

Under the terms of the agreement, BioDiscovery customers will be able to access Agilent SureFISH probes directly from BioDiscovery's Nexus software system, thus facilitating genomic analysis.

SureFISH probes enable users to detect extremely small repetitive or aberrant regions in specific areas of the genome, offering fast operation times and high levels of versatility.

Through this partnership, scientists using a variety of cytogenetic microarray platforms will be able to identify aberrations via Nexus and immediately identify/link to the oligonucleotide-based fluorescent in situ hybridisation probes for follow-up studies.

Kathleen Shelton, Agilent's director of marketing for genomics, said: "This cooperative agreement demonstrates yet another way researchers can leverage our comprehensive, user-friendly SureFISH platform, allowing them to complete their studies more efficiently and effectively than before."

This comes after the company signed a co-marketing agreement with Molecular Discovery last week that will see them collaboratively offer an advanced metabolite identification platform for biopharmaceutical applications.
