Agilent Technologies offers new UHPLC solution

28th April 2009

Agilent Technologies has announced the introduction of a new solution for use in ultra high performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC).

The company noted the Agilent 1290 Infinity system offers more power, as well as increased speed and sensitivity in the field.

Patrick Kaltenbach, the company’s general manager for liquid chromatography business, said the debate regarding UHPLC was over and that attention now needs to be turned to innovative systems that support it.

He added Agilent had been particularly ambitious with this latest project, as it was necessary for the technology to not only meet the demands of the current market, but also be equipped for the future.

In addition, Daniel Zimmerli, senior technology coordinator at Hoffmann-La Roche, said: "The Agilent 1290 Infinity LC enables separations in seconds, faster than any instrument before."

The 1290 Infinity is also fitted with a new binary pump designed to reduce levels of background noise.

Agilent recently announced the first ever winner of its Early Career Professor Award – which was given to Dr Boris Murmann of Stanford University.
