Agilent Technologies supplies equipment for Yale biology research

16th December 2011

Agilent Technologies has provided a number of bioanalytical systems to the prestigious Yale University to support the facility's biology research programmes.

The science company has sold three nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy systems, a 7890A GC/MS system and a BioCel 900 automation system, among other devices, to Yale for use at six research institutes it is establishing at its new West Campus.

In addition, Agilent and Yale are discussing a potential scientific collaboration in the field of integrative biology, synthetic biology and quantitative proteomics, with the aim of gaining new understanding of disease mechanisms.

Dr Darlene Solomon, Agilent's chief technology officer, said collaborative research is necessary to gain further knowledge of life science systems.

"Agilent solutions help researchers integrate different types of biological data in pursuit of medical breakthroughs and the Yale group shares our vision," she added.

This comes after the company announced earlier this month that it has completed its acquisition of Halo Genomics, while it will be strengthening its life science capabilities further by purchasing BioSystem Development before the year's end.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801242406-ADNFCR
