Agilent Technologies to offer new FT-IR solutions
Agilent Technologies is expanding its offering of Fourier Transform-Infra Red (FT-IR) solutions for the biomedical and biological research sector.
The science company is now offering a range of new products acquired from new subsidiary Varian, which includes the 600-IR series spectrometers and microscopes, software and accessories.
It states that these innovations can allow life science researchers to study and analyse the chemical information of biological samples in a much faster way than would be possible with traditional techniques, such as cell staining.
Phil Binns, general manager for spectroscopy products at Agilent Technologies, said: “Our software and accessories extend the utility of FT-IR to analyses that would be impossible or impractical with other methods.”
Other advantages of FT-IR include the ability to monitor and optimise microbial fermentation processes for improved efficiency, as well as allowing researchers to study drug uptake through membranes.
Last week, Agilent revealed that its gas chromatography and mass spectrometry instruments have been chosen by the South African Doping Control Laboratory to conduct drug tests during the current World Cup tournament.
