Alcon introduces new LenSx Laser patient interface

Alcon has announced the launch of the LenSx SoftFit patient interface, the latest expansion for its LenSx Laser platform.

To be made available in most major markets by the end of 2012, the new product incorporates all of the features of the LenSx Laser single-piece patient interface, while delivering improved surgical performance and deliver enhanced patient comfort.

It utilises proprietary soft contact lens technology that enables the natural curvature of the cornea to conform to a soft contact lens insert, providing a secure and comfortable fit with minimal corneal distortion.

Other benefits of SoftFit include its pristine capsulotomy edges, ease of docking and reduced procedure time.

Laurent Attias, head of global commercial strategy at Alcon, said: "We believe this represents an important step forward within the refractive cataract market and further differentiates the capabilities and technologies we offer surgeons through our LenSx Laser platform."

This comes after the LenSx Laser was cleared by US regulators for use in corneal flap creation last month.
