Align Technology scanner adds IOS Technologies product compatibility

Align Technology has announced that its iTero intraoral scanner has been upgraded to offer cross-compatibility with IOS Technologies' software and systems.

Expanding the chairside CAD/CAM workflow options of the scanner, the update allows the device to be used in conjunction with the IOS FastDesign system, including the FastDesign CAD software and the TS150 in-office milling machine.

Users of the IOS FastDesign system will thus be able to mill same-day restorations in the office through a workflow that has been clinically proven and verified by IOS Technologies and its parent company Glidewell Laboratories.

An iTero partner since 2007, Glidewell Laboratories has processed more than 71,000 iTero scan files for the fabrication of over 100,000 restorations.

Timothy Mack, Align Technology's vice-president for business development, said: "Offering certified connectivity with the FastDesign system demonstrates Align's ongoing commitment to innovation and expanding utility for the iTero intraoral scanner."

Last month, the company announced that it will be launching a first premolar extraction solution, Invisalign G6, in Europe and several other regions next year.
