ALK Abello appoints sales and marketing head

ALK Abello has announced the appointment of Soren Daniel Niegel as its new executive vice-president for sales and marketing and member of the board of management.

Mr Niegel joins the company from the position of vice-president for European strategic operations at fellow pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk, where he has served in many different positions spanning territories such as Denmark, The Netherlands, France and Switzerland.

He has accrued significant management and business experience, all of which will prove beneficial as he takes responsibility for international marketing and for managing ALK's affiliates in Europe, China and the USA.

ALK confirmed that Mr Niegel will take up his new role with the company from August 1st 2012.

This comes after the company announced the appointment of Steen Riisgaard as its chairman last month, during the first meeting of its newly assembled board of directors.

Currently the chief executive officer of healthcare company Novozymes, Mr Riisgaard was elected alongside new vice-chairman Christian Dyvig.
