ALK Abello receives JACI recognition for Grazax trial

5th March 2012

ALK Abello has received an editor's choice award from the American Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (JACI) for a landmark trial of its grass allergy treatment Grazax.

The journal published results from a long-term trial of the immunotherapy tablet-based treatment, which demonstrated its disease-modifying effect over a period of three years.

To date, it is the only large double-blind placebo-controlled trial to show that grass allergy immunotherapy tablets can be effective as a means of treating grass pollen-induced allergic rhinitis for at least two years after the completion of treatment.

JACI's endorsement of the trial is significant as the publication is the highest-ranking scientific journal in the field of allergy in terms of impact factor.

Henrik Jacobi, executive vice-president for research and development at ALK, said: "This landmark trial with Grazax is a key achievement in the development of modern allergy immunotherapy and we are proud that the results receive this recognition by JACI."

Last month, the company reported its financial results for 2011, a period which saw ALK Abello experience its best ever annual performance.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801309261-ADNFCR
