ALK expects increasing profits in 2009

20th February 2009

ALK expects the year ahead to see a significant increase in the company’s operating profits, it has been asserted.

The firm announced yesterday it had met its financial forecast for 2008, achieving DKK 157 million (18.66 million pounds) in profit before tax.

Chairman Jorgen Worning and president and chief executive office Jens Bager stated they hope the firm’s core business ? sales of allergy vaccines ? will increase by double figures over the next 12 months.

Although 2009 is likely to be challenging one for the global economy, as well as the company, the pair explained they remain optimistic.

They commented: “We have created a foundation for stable, favourable developments at ALK many years into the future.”

A tablet vaccine against house dust mite allergy is the next product in the pipeline. The business said it had taken positive steps towards its goal of market introduction by demonstrating its effects in a large-scale clinical study.

The firm states it is the world leader in a unique treatment that reduces and potentially halts allergic reactions by inducing a protective immune response, known as immunotherapy.
