Allergan delivers robust 2017 financial performance after strong end to year
Allergan has announced its financial results for the 2017 business year, which represented a period of strong performance for the company.
The firm reported total net revenues of $15.94 billion (GBP 11.5 billion) for the full year, a 9.4 percent increase compared to the prior year. This was driven by strong growth across key therapeutic areas and products, and the addition of new regenerative medicine products and the CoolSculpting brand.
A strong end to the year played a key role in this performance, with fourth-quarter revenues reaching $4.33 billion, up by 12 percent year-over-year. Sales of key brands such as Botox, Juvederm, Alloderm, Vraylar, Namzaric and Viberzi were cited as important drivers.
Additionally, Allergan was able to acquire, integrate and grow two new businesses during 2017, while also completing a $15 billion share repurchase programme.
Brent Saunders, chairman and chief executive officer of Allergan, said: "I believe that Allergan has a strong future and I am especially proud of our Allergan colleagues who continue to be Bold for Life by delivering treatments that make a difference for patients around the world."
