Allergan launches Optive Plus eyedrops in UK
Allergan has introduced its new Optive Plus eye drops in the UK, a product that aims to tackle severe dry eye symptoms.
The consumer health product provides a triple mode of action, covering the eye in a thin layer of liquid to slow down tear evaporation while using new lipid-enhancing technology to stabilise this layer.
In addition, special OsmoMax technology moisturises and lubricates the surface of the eye and contains molecules that hydrate the epithelial cells in the cornea at a deeper level.
A safety and tolerability study of the eye drops has also shown they are able to avoid the discomfort associated with many similar products.
Selwyn Ho, UK country manager and ophthalmology business unit director at Allergan, said: "Allergan is pleased to be launching Optive Plus, which is a lipid-containing eye drop with a low concentration of lipid that effectively relieves dry eye symptoms but is well tolerated by users."
Earlier this month, the company reported its financial results for the first quarter of 2012, during which it experienced a nine percent year-on-year increase in net sales.
