Allergan reports positive performance in Q4 2013
Allergan has expressed optimism for the business year ahead based on its strong results for the fourth and final quarter of 2013.
The company's total product net sales for the last three months of the year came to $1.66 billion (1.02 billion pounds), up by 14.6 percent year on year, thanks to strong sales of both its pharmaceutical and medical device portfolios.
Its lead product Botox – which was approved for the treatment of ankle disability due to lower limb spasticity associated with stroke in the UK this month – was once again the key driver of sales, while the firm was also able to make progress with its regulatory applications for several new products.
Total product net sales of between $6.65 billion and $6.95 billion are expected for the 2014 full-year period, with between $1.53 billion and $1.6 billion to be generated during the first quarter.
David Pyott, Allergan's chairman of the board and chief executive officer, said: "We are pleased to have once again achieved our double-digit revenue and mid-teens earnings per share growth aspirations for full-year 2013, as we benefited from many regulatory approvals in the past few years."
