Alliance Boots publishes latest corporate social responsibility report

23rd September 2014

Alliance Boots has published its corporate social responsibility (CSR) report for 2013/14, demonstrating the positive contributions it has made to community and environmental initiatives.

During the year, the company has provided support for a number of charitable organisations, including the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer Charitable Trust and Macmillan Cancer Support in the UK, through fundraising activities and volunteering initiatives.

It has also reinforced its commitment to collaboration with academia to better inform its business activities and generate benefits within the health and beauty industry for customers and patients.

The report includes an independent assurance statement from KPMG, which reinforces its established processes and procedures in relation to data capture and accuracy.

Ornella Barra, chairman of the social responsibilities committee at Alliance Boots, said: "With an increasing presence across many communities around the world, we continue to recognise the importance of ensuring that our business practices are socially, environmentally and economically sustainable across the group."

This comes after the firm announced last month that it will be merging with US partner Walgreens next year, creating a global pharmacy-led health and wellbeing enterprise called Walgreen Boots Alliance.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801750227-ADNFCR
