Alliance Medical unveils “UK’s most advanced 3T MRI scanner”
Alliance Medical has revealed what it claims to be the UK’s most advanced clinical 3T MRI scanner at York NeuroImaging Centre.
Utilising the GE 3.0T HD Excite MR scanner, complete with imaging coils, neurologists will be able to examine areas in detail, from the brain down to the ankle. In addition, the improved processing power and signal-to-noise ratio allows fMRI studies to be carried out using motor, optical and auditory stimuli.
The images produced by the scanner are “unsurpassed in the region”, according to Alliance. Furthermore, it said that some centres are reconsidering the need for invasive arthograms because of the clarity of diagnostic information provided by the 3T system.
Dr Don Collie, consultant neuro-radiologist at the York NeuroImaging Cnetre, remarked: “The York 3T MRI scanner provides superb image quality especially for brain and spinal imaging, with better image resolution and shorter acquisition times compared to 1.5T MRI systems.”
Alliance Medical specialises in providing both fixed and mobile medical equipment, including an array of scanners, to over 150 hospitals and clinics across the country. It claims to be the first company in the world to offer a fully-configured cardiac mobile MRI system and the first in Europe to offer a mobile spiral CT scanner.
Alliance Medical’s head office is based in Upton, Nr Banbury, Oxfordshire.
