Almirall announces acquisition of Poli Group

Almirall has announced the acquisition of Poli Group, a dermatology-focused business that sells its products in 70 countries.

This strategic transaction aligns with Almirall's ambition of becoming a leading player in the global dermatology market, which was announced last year following a transfer agreement with AstraZeneca.

Poli Group's dermatology offerings are complemented by a strong portfolio of gynaecology and respiratory products, responsible for brands such as the nail disease therapy Ciclopoli, and the nail psoriasis and rosacea treatments Sililevo and Zeloglin.

The move is expected to help Almirall grow its dermatology revenues, expand its product portfolio and gain better access to a number of strategically important territories.

Jorge Gallardo, president of Almirall, said: "The products of Poli Group will provide Almirall with leading market positions in key geographies in which we want to increase our footprint."

This comes after the firm announced the acquisition of the rights to two dermatology products, Veltin and Altabax, from Stiefel last month.
