Alphega ‘plans to be industry leader by 2015’
Alphega has outlined its plans to become the preferred international pharmacy brand within the next five years.
Sue Moore, the pharmacy network’s UK general manager, told Chemist and Druggist that it is to roll out more services in the coming months and years in order to maintain its recent strong growth rate.
These are to include more professional services and training opportunities for independent Alphega members, advice provision for pharmacists and a smoking cessation service.
It is hoped that will allow the network, which had 460 UK members as of March 2010, to almost double its British membership to 850 by 2013.
She added: “Looking at the 12 months ahead we have a lot on the wheel.”
Alphega was launched in 2001 by pharmacy supplier Alliance Healthcare and aims to develop a benchmark independent community pharmacy model, thereby aiding public health initiatives across Europe.
It currently has more than 2,500 members across the continent.
