Alstoe provides donation to animal charity Wing and a Prayer

Alstoe Animal Health has provided a product donation to Wing and a Prayer, a Norfolk-based charity group that looks after wild birds and owls.

The company has agreed to contribute a supply of its product Kesium, which has been found by the charity to be effective in treating baby and juvenile birds that have infected bite wounds from cats' saliva.

Using conventional drugs, the usual survival rate of such birds is estimated to be around 50 percent, but Wing and a Prayer's Dee Emmett said these rates are likely to be significantly higher with Kesium, as the therapy is able to kill infections without causing adverse effects.

The charity took in around 670 birds last year, with the aim of rehabilitating the animals and releasing them back into the wild.

Niall McFerran from Alstoe said: "After hearing about the treatment challenges from Dee, we were only too happy to help out this small charity by supplying them with some free product."

Alstoe is part of the Sogeval group and also offers products such as Doxion, EaseFlex, Tempora and Pracetam.
