Amgen becomes new IFPMA member

15th November 2010

Amgen has been announced as the newest member of the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations (IFPMA), a not-for-profit non-governmental organisation.

The pharmaceutical firm has become a member company of the IFPMA in order to bring new perspectives to the organisation, which represents the interests of the research-based pharmaceutical, biotech and vaccine sectors.

Moreover, Amgen will be able to benefit from the IFPMA's worldwide reach and experience in dealing with global issues in both developed and developing nations, thereby assisting the company's efforts to expand its international presence.

IFPMA director general Eduardo Pisani said: "Amgen is a major force in the increasingly significant biotech sector and is therefore an important and welcome addition to the IFPMA."

Earlier this week, Amgen published new data from a clinical trial of its chronic immune thrombocytopenia treatment Nplate.

Results from the study showed that Amgen's drug can deliver significant benefits when compared to the current standard of care.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800235119-ADNFCR
