Amgen cancer seminar to host author

Amgen has confirmed that the journalist and author Joan Lunden will partner with the Colon Cancer Alliance (CCA) for the company’s sponsored workshop series -Conversations about Colorectal Cancer.

The series of seminars aim to provide support and education resources for colorectal cancer patients and caregivers.

Ms Lunden will join the panel of physicians who will inform guests on the latest treatment advances for the disease.

Tim Turnham, chief executive officer of the Colon Cancer Alliance, said that the fight against colorectal cancer often left patients feeling “isolated and overwhelmed” by the choices that are available for treatment.

“Conversations about Colorectal Cancer is an opportunity for patients to find community with other patients, and to interact with doctors who are at the cutting edge of care for this disease.”

Ms Lunden expressed her delight in being part of the programme, suggesting that it “empowered patients” by providing them with the necessary information to maintain constructive discussions with their doctor.

Earlier this week, Amgen published the first results from a phase III clinical trial investigating the link between an antibody and a gene found in tumours.
