Amgen names new executive vice-president of operations
Amgen has announced the promotion of Esteban Santos to the role of executive vice-president of operations.
Mr Santos will take up his new role on July 25th, taking responsibility for the running of Amgen's operations organisation, which handles manufacturing, process development, quality, engineering and global supply chain issues.
He originally joined Amgen in 2007 and has held a variety of leadership roles over the course of his career. Prior to this appointment, he was senior vice-president for manufacturing, with responsibilities for worldwide product supply, and took up this role in 2013.
The appointment comes after current executive vice-president of operations Madhavan Balachandran announced that he will be retiring at the end of the year.
Robert Bradway, chairman and chief executive officer at Amgen, said: "I'm confident that Esteban and our operations team will maintain our track record of industry-leading performance in serving 'every patient, every time'."
Robert Maroney, the current vice-president for site operations at Amgen Manufacturing in Juncos, Puerto Rico, will succeed Mr Santos as senior vice-president for manufacturing.
