Anachem makes direct amplification solution available
Anachem has announced it has made a new system available in the UK and Ireland that is something of an industry first.
The provider claims the Kapa Biosystems Blood PCR Kits can enable researchers to perform direct amplification directly across a whole range of whole blood sample types.
It notes fresh and frozen samples – as well as those collected via EDTA tubes, FTA Elute Cards, Guthrie cards or filter paper – are all compatible with the system, which offers reduced contamination risk and faster turnaround time.
"They are compatible with existing workflows, standard protocols and routinely used detection methods," the company adds.
Incorporated into the kits is KAPA’s Blood DNA Polymerase, which is the first of its kind to be engineered specifically for direct DNA amplification from whole blood.
"This powerful enzyme eliminates the need for DNA extraction in genetic testing protocols for humans, other mammals and birds," Anachem concludes.
The firm recently announced the availability of the 2009-2010 IDEX Health & Science Catalogue – which can be obtained free online.
