Ansell has announced that Glenn Barnes will be taking over as chairman of its board of directors following its annual general meeting (AGM) on October 22nd 2012.
Current chairman Peter Barnes has announced that he will not be standing for re-election at the forthcoming AGM, having served as a director since October 2001 and as chairman since August 2005.
Glenn Barnes, who was appointed to the deputy chairman role earlier this year, has more than 20 years of governance experience in the banking and financial services, business information, consumer goods and not-for-profit sectors.
He is the current chairman of Australian Unity and has served in business leadership roles at organisations all over the world.
"I am honoured to have been asked by my peers to take on this leadership role at Ansell – a company with a proud history and promising future," said Glenn Barnes.
Earlier this month, the company announced a multi-year purchasing agreement with private hospital group Ramsay Health Care that will initially cover Australia, but could also be expanded to the UK, France and Indonesia.
