Ansell appoints new medical solutions head

Ansell has named Anthony Lopez as president and general manager of its medical solutions global business unit, strengthening its executive management team.

Reporting directly to chief executive officer Magnus Nicolin, the new manager will oversee the business unit's global operations, including marketing, strategic planning and research and development.

He joins the company from CareFusion, where he was employed as senior vice-president and general manager for respiratory systems, while prior to this he worked for 18 years at Johnson and Johnson.

Mr Nicolin said Mr Lopez's "multifaceted expertise" means that his appointment represents a significant new opportunity for the company.

"His decades of experience in the medical device industry will be pivotal in driving Ansell's growth and innovation across the acute and non-acute care, and surgical supplies markets we operate in," he explained.

Ansell's 2010-11 financial report shows that the company was able to achieve strong year-on-year sales growth of 11 percent during the most recent business year.
