Applied Biosystems addresses Vesivirus 2117 detection with new kit
Applied Biosystems has addressed the need for the detection of Vesivirus 2117 with the launch of its latest product – the ViralSEQTM Vesivirus Detection Kit.
The equipment enables the speedy isolation and detection of Vesivirus 2117 from cell culture samples, according to the firm.
Vesivirus is a potential contaminant of mammalian cell culture based biopharmaceutical manufacturing and biopharmaceutical companies can utilise the kit to detect this early in the production and manufacturing processes.
“We have focused our efforts on developing a robust method that isolates and detects this virus in a single assay,” stated Tony Hunt, senior director of bioproduction at Life Technologies, the parent firm of Applied Biosystems.
He added that the product is important as it enables the detection of this virus in less than five hours.
Last month, Applied Biosystems revealed that its AMPFSTR MiniFiler PCR Amplification Kit was chosen for use by the National DNA Index System.
