Applied Biosystems offers new mass spectrometry solution

Applied Biosystems (AB) has announced the launch of a new mass spectrometry system for use in public health and safety improvement.

The manufacturer claims the Cliquid 3.0 Software application is now available and – when used alongside the mTRAQ triplex reagents – can be used in a host of solutions.

It is noted these include forensic drug screening, enhanced food and water contaminant testing and the research of protein biomarkers.

Laura Lauman, president of Life Technologies’ mass spectrometry systems division, said the offering would offer support to scientists where it is often needed.

She explained both AB and MDS Analytical Technologies – its joint-venture partner in the field – did this with "innovative technologies that deliver complete workflow solutions, including industry-leading platforms, software and applications."

AB announced last week it had developed new capillary electrophoresis sequencing solutions in the form of two new lines of genetic analysers.
