Applied Biosystems parent company launches new quantitation system

30th November 2010

Applied Biosystems parent company Life Technologies Corporation has announced the launch of its next-generation Qubit 2.0 Fluorometer.

The system quantitates DNA, RNA and protein quickly and accurately, and is specifically designed for molecular biology researchers who perform applications that require a significant amount of time or financial investment.

The Qubit 2.0 Fluorometer is also aimed at researchers that work with precious samples such as rare, difficult to purify and expensive clinical research matter.

Among the Qubit 2.0 Fluorometer's new features are an LCD colour touch screen, architecture to allow efficient and effective data management and a USB port.

In addition, the new button designs provide researchers with a way to save and export a CSV data file without losing the high sensitivity of the original instrument.

Nicolas Barthelemy, president of cell systems at Life Technologies, said: "We've continued to innovate one of the biggest advancements in quantitation in more than 40 years [and] made the platform easier to use without sacrificing accuracy and sensitivity."

Life Technologies is the parent company of Invitrogen Corporation and Applied Biosystems. ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800263003-ADNFCR
