Applied Biosystems selects UK provider for SNPlex

24th August 2007

Applied Biosystems has selected Geneservice as the UK supplier for its SNPlex genotyping system, it has emerged.

Geneservice is now to use the platform in order to offer a system capable of processing "hundreds or thousands of samples".

The firm is also to receive marketing and technical assistance from Applied Biosystems as part of the deal.

Nick Leaves, head of operations for Geneservice’s parent company Medical Solutions, comments: "The SNPlex genotyping system is well suited to the candidate gene association studies that typically follow whole-genome screening.

"We already have significant expressions of interest in SNPlex and have completed over 900,000 custom single nucleotide polymorphism genotypes in recent months."

He adds that the company is "delighted" to have been selected as the UK partner by Applied Biosystems.

SNPlex was unveiled earlier this month and targets laboratories which do not have direct access to capillary electrophoresis genetic analysis instrument systems in order to enable genotyping for such institutions.ADNFCR-1050-ID-18257156-ADNFCR
