Applied Biosystems SOLiD offered by NCGR

Applied Biosystems’ SOLiD sequencing by ligation solution is being offered by the National Center for Genome Resources (NCGR), it has emerged.

The NCGR is providing SOLiD as part of its Alpheus sequence pipelining services, the company announced.

SOLiD is Applied Biosystems’ "next-generation system for ultra high-throughput DNA analysis", according to the manufacturer.

It is now being made available to customers of the NCGR through the proprietary laboratory analysis software platform Alpheus.

"It is anticipated that investigators will use these services for genome sequencing and the discovery of genes associated with diseases and traits in humans, plants and pathogens," the company predicts.

According to the NCGR, clients may expect automated data handling and a computational analysis pipeline through the use of Alpheus.

Access to the software is possible via a secure web browser, the company adds, allowing for local installation or for hosting by the NCGR itself.
