Applied Biosystems to host joint webcast

Applied Biosystems and Invitrogen will host a webcast of their joint presentation to the US Global Life Sciences Conference detailing the proposed merger of the two companies and their plans for going forward, it has been announced.

The presentation will be delivered by Applied Biosystems’ president Mark Stevenson and Invitrogen chairman and chief executive officer Greg Lucier.

A live webcast will be broadcast on the Applied Biosystems website at 11:30 ET on September 23rd and a replay will be available afterwards, the company said.

Those wishing to participate in the webcast, which will comprise the 25-minute presentation and a 25-minute "breakout" session, should log on to the Investor Relations section of the Applied Biosystems website approximately 15 minutes before start time, it added.

In related news, the two firms recently confirmed the proposed corporate structure for the combined firm that would be created by their merger.

The deal, which according to the International Herald Tribune is worth some $6.7 billion (3.72 billion pounds), is awaiting shareholder approval and regulatory clearance from the European Commission.
