Ark predicts a year of busy news flow

Ark anticipates a busy period of news flow over the next 12 months, it has asserted.

Dr Nigel Parker, chief executive officer of the pharmaceutical company, remarked that the firm had progressed in building its specialist gene-based products last year.

A number of phase III trials had successfully moved through certain late-stage regulatory milestones and the firm had worked to be in a position allowing it to further examine three more compounds in 2009, he explained.

The business’ objectives for the year ahead continue to be improving its commercial effectiveness and strengthening its position as a leader in the DNA-based medicine field, Dr Parker continued to note.

He concluded the overall ambition of Ark is “to become a leading, sustainable provider of biomedicines”.

Included in its highlights for its 2008 preliminary results was filing a marketing approval application to the European Medicines Agency for Cerepro after a successful phase III trial.

The company also praised its work in wound care after Neuropad and Kerramax collectively achieved a 66 per cent year-on-year sales growth, totalling just below one million pounds for 2008.

Ark has operations in the UK and Finland.
