ArthroCare launches WoundWand in Europe
ArthroCare has announced that its WoundWand debridement device is now available for sale in Europe after being granted regulatory clearance.
The minimally-invasive medical device, which has not yet been launched in the US, has been granted CE Mark accreditation, allowing it to be released for EU distribution.
ArthroCare has designed WoundWand to allow necrotic tissue to be removed from a wound in a precise and controlled manner, thereby making it ideal for debridement in acute and chronic injuries.
The applications of the product are underlined by figures from the Journal of Wound Care, which show that up to 2.7 million Europeans suffer from leg and foot ulcers, creating costs of more than 12 billion euros (10.04 billion pounds) annually.
Last month, the company published its financial results for the third quarter of 2010, reporting a 10.6 percent year-on-year increase in revenue.
This was attributed to rising demand in both of its key business areas of sports medicine and ear, nose and throat products.
