AstraZeneca Addresses Cancer Need in Africa
In Africa, cancer is a grave and expanding public health issue, currently the fifth greatest cause of mortality. Less than 5% of the world’s resources are thought to go towards the fight against cancer in low- and middle-income countries.
Healthcare quality, accessibility, and awareness obstacles severely impact communities with limited health services, worsening health inequalities.
Although there is potential to offer Africa equal and long-lasting cancer treatment options, to combat the expanding illness burden efficiently, cooperation from all stakeholders is required.
AstraZeneca wants to create egalitarian advances in cancer treatment for everyone, as well as saving patient lives across the world.
Their reaction to the rising incidence of cancer in Africa is the Cancer Care Africa programme. Cancer Care Africa, which was established in November 2022 at COP27, promotes policy modifications to enhance outcomes for people impacted by the illness.
Additionally, it advocates for the implementation of cutting-edge medical technology to increase access to cancer screening, particularly in rural and disadvantaged areas.
AstraZeneca is pushing for the world to work together to reform healthcare and enhance the lives of those who live in Africa as we work towards a healthier future for generations to come.
