AstraZeneca named as global leader on climate change action by CDP

AstraZeneca has been named as a global leader in sustainability through its inclusion on the new Climate A List compiled by CDP.

The firm is among only nine percent of corporations participating in CDP's climate change programme to be awarded a position on the Climate A List, recognising the actions it has taken to reduce its emissions and mitigate climate change.

Examples of these initiatives include its commitment to source 100 percent renewable power by 2025, as well as the establishment of its natural resources capital fund.

Additionally, AstraZeneca is one of only four FTSE 350 companies to have had its climate change targets approved by the Science Based Targets (SBT) initiative, a project to ensure companies set targets that contribute a fair share towards global emissions reduction goals.

Katarina Ageborg, chief compliance officer for AstraZeneca, said: "This recognition further highlights the progress we've made, and commit to make in the future, to reduce emissions and mitigate climate change."

Thousands of companies submit annual climate disclosures to CDP for independent assessment of metrics such as emission reduction activities, long-term strategy and the identification and management of potential risks and opportunities.
