AstraZeneca reaccredited by CEO Roundtable on Cancer

AstraZeneca has been recognised by the CEO [Chief Executive Officer] Roundtable on Cancer for its efforts in cancer prevention, early detection and care for its workers and their dependents. The company has been awarded the CEO Cancer Gold Standard for its achievements.

Furthermore, the company announced that it has also recently been named one of the 100 Best Places to Work For by Fortune Magazine, while picking up the Fit-Friendly Company award from the American Heart Association.

AstraZeneca is one of 12 companies in the US accredited with the CEO Cancer Gold Standard, receiving it first in 2006, before gaining reaccredidation based on its cancer-prevention initiatives.

Tony Zook, president and chief executive of AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals, said: “As a healthcare company that seeks to discover medicines that will improve the health of people and their families, we’re committed to providing our employees with eh programmes and resources they need to make healthy lifestyle choices.”

He added that the firm sought to encourage other companies to offer similar programmes, noting that health in the workplace can save lives as well as reducing costs.

Last month, the Egyptian health minister Dr Hatem Mostafa El-Gabaly officially opened a $32 million (16.29 million pounds) tablet-manufacturing site near Cairo built by AstraZeneca.
