AstraZeneca seeks to raise diabetes management awareness
AstraZeneca has partnered with the Diabetes Hands Foundation in a bid to raise awareness on living with type 2 diabetes.
They have launched Everyday Steps, a campaign designed to help those that live with diabetes develop a walking routine.
Regular exercise, along with diet and medication, can help people living with type 2 diabetes manage the condition.
Everyday Steps offers a number of tips for creating a walking routine, such as setting goals and tracking progress, setting up music playlists, and testing out different types of walking, such as lunging.
Endocrinologist at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital Serge Jabbour, MD explained that adding exercise to a treatment plan can be "challenging" for many patients.
"Walking is a great example of an accessible exercise that can lead to benefits, along with diet and medication," he remarked.
Vice-president of diabetes at AstraZeneca Topher Brooke said the pharmaceutical giant wants to "offer people the tools and resources" they need to manage diabetes as best as possible.
