AstraZeneca set to Procure Amolyt Pharma
Ella Jackson
Astrazeneca is set to procure Amolyt Pharma, a medical device organisation that specialises in therapies for rare endocrine illnesses.
Following the acquisition, AstraZeneca will gain the biotech firms’ shares, which could amount to $1.05 bn.
The procurement will strengthen the Alexion, AstraZeneca’s Rare Disease advanced development portfolio and broaden their bone metabolism pipeline.
Marc Dunoyer, CEO of Alexion, AstraZeneca Rare Disease, commented, “As leaders in rare disease, Alexion is uniquely positioned to drive the late-stage development and global commercialisation of eneboparatide, which has the potential to lessen the often-debilitating impact of low parathyroid hormone and avoid the risks of high-dose calcium supplementation.”
Dunoyer went on to add, “We believe this programme, together with Amolyt’s talented team, expertise, and earlier pipeline, will enable our expansion into rare endocrinology.”
