AstraZeneca to present new respiratory drug data at ATS 2016
AstraZeneca will be attending this year's American Thoracic Society (ATS) International Conference, where it will be sharing its latest respiratory drug research insights.
The symposium in San Francisco runs from May 13th to 18th and will see the company present more than 60 abstracts and scientific presentations on its novel inhaled combinations, respiratory biologics and innovative science.
Of these, 14 abstracts will focus on unmet needs in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), as well as the performance of Bevespi Aerosphere, its new COPD therapy that was recently approved in the US.
Biomarker data on benralizumab, an anti-eosinophil monoclonal antibody currently in phase III trials in both severe asthma and COPD, will also be shared, as well as findings that highlight breakthrough science aimed at addressing and modifying the underlying disease causes.
Tom Keith-Roach, vice-president of global product strategy for respiratory, inflammation and autoimmunity at AstraZeneca, said: "We believe Bevespi Aerosphere and investigational medicines such as benralizumab can make a real difference in the lives of patients living with respiratory conditions worldwide."
Respiratory, inflammation and autoimmunity is one of the firm's most important focus areas, with up to seven product launches planned within this category between 2016 and 2020.
