Autoscribe publishes LIMS user requirement checklist

Autoscribe has announced the publication of a user requirements checklist to help with the assessment of laboratory information management system (LIMS) vendors.

Reflecting the importance and complexity of specifying a LIMS prior to purchase, the detailed 29-page list will help users to fully understand how each vendor meets their specific requirements. It is suitable both for first-time buyers and those looking for a replacement LIMS.

Covering everything from commercial to system support issues, the checklist includes key details on programming and coding responsibilities, system configuration/customisation and user access and security.

It also includes a thorough review of functionality – including sample/work registration, sample receipt, sample preparation, work scheduling and result entry – and sections concerning static data tables, reporting and options.

Autoscribe's founder and chief executive officer John Boother, said: "The definition of requirements is one of the key aspects of a LIMS project, but all too often it is not dealt with in sufficient detail, which inevitably leads to pain."
